As Shawn and I headed out for this weekend’s camping trip, the truck and trailer were loaded down but we were lighter and had a lot less on our minds. I had my final out processing appointment with the Air Force and am now officially on terminal leave!
Can you spot Sasquatch?
We drove a few hours to the south to Mayfield Lake Park and backed the trailer into a lovely spot right on the lake. It was so relaxing to wake up to our lake view each morning. Friday was a gorgeous day and we managed to get the kayaks out for a few hours. It had been a long time so it felt so good to be sliding through the water again. We saw quite a few Canadian geese and a Bald Eagle couple. I think they had a nest in the area based on the screeches we heard.
We went for a nice bike ride on Saturday – unfortunately we headed back early because of the threatening rain showers. Now that we are retired we do not have to press ourselves. We spent a lot of time nesting and getting settled into our new home – we love it!
We arrived on Thursday afternoon and nearly had the entire campground to ourselves. As Friday progressed the campground started filling up. It was very entertaining and we were curious to see how long it would take before we had the campground to ourselves again. Surprisingly, by noon on Sunday it was almost empty again. We have declared this day: “So Long Suckas, Sunday!” This trip only lasted five days but the next one will be much longer!
